Roofing Services in Gentry, AR

Serving Gentry — free estimates, written quotes, no obligation.

Gentry is fifteen minutes up Highway 59 from our office in Siloam Springs, which makes it one of the closest towns we serve and one we are in constantly. We cover 72734 — downtown Gentry, the Flint Creek area, Pine Ridge, the Highway 59 corridor and the properties spread out around the school district.

Town lots and acreage are two different jobs

Gentry is a small town surrounded by farmland, and roughly half of what we do here is not on a quarter-acre lot.

In town, the housing is modest and mostly straightforward: simple gable and hip roofs, single storey or storey-and-a-half, on older stock where the recurring themes are age, previous layovers and original wood soffit and fascia that has taken water from a failing gutter for years.

Out on acreage, the work changes. Longer runs, more exposure, outbuildings and shops alongside the house, and frequently metal roofing rather than asphalt. Exposed-fastener metal panels are common on rural Benton County buildings and they age in a specific way: the neoprene washers under the screws harden and shrink, the screws back out slightly, and the roof begins leaking at hundreds of individual points rather than in one place. Re-screwing a metal roof with larger-diameter fasteners is a genuine repair with years in it, and it is a fraction of the cost of replacement. We will tell you when that is the right call.

Exposure, and what open country does to a roof

Without the tree cover of Bella Vista or the older parts of Rogers, Gentry roofs get more sun and considerably more wind. The two effects pull in different directions and both matter.

More UV means shingles on south and west slopes age faster — the same roof frequently looks a decade older on one plane than another. More wind means shingles lift at rakes and ridges on exposed elevations, and lifted shingles rarely look damaged from the ground. After a straight-line wind event out here it is worth having someone actually get on the roof.

The upside of open country is gutters: with fewer overhanging limbs, they stay far cleaner than anywhere under Ozark tree cover, and gutter guards are usually not worth the money on a Gentry town lot.

Hail

Gentry sits in the western part of the same hail corridor that runs across Benton County. Storm cells moving in from Oklahoma frequently cross here first, which is worth knowing for a practical reason: a storm that hit Gentry an hour before it hit Bentonville is the same storm, and the claim documentation is the same exercise.

Permits

Work inside the city limits is permitted through the City of Gentry. A great deal of Gentry-addressed property sits outside the limits and falls under Benton County instead — more than in most towns we work, because of how much of the area is rural. We confirm which applies to your address.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you repair a metal roof on my shop or barn?

Usually, yes — and re-screwing is a genuine repair rather than a patch. Exposed-fastener metal panels leak through their screws, not their panels: the neoprene washers harden and shrink, the fasteners back out slightly, and the roof starts leaking at hundreds of small points. Larger-diameter fasteners restore it for years at a fraction of replacement cost.

Why does one side of my roof look so much older than the other?

Sun. Without much tree cover out here, south and west slopes take considerably more UV than the north side, and the same roof can look a decade older on one plane. It is the normal pattern on open-country properties and it is worth knowing before you assume the whole roof is finished.

Do I need gutter guards?

On a Gentry town lot, usually not. With far fewer overhanging limbs than the Ozark tree cover further east, gutters here stay reasonably clean and guards are hard to justify. We will tell you when they are not worth the money.

My property is outside the city. Who permits the work?

Benton County. A large share of Gentry-addressed property is rural and sits outside the city limits — more than in most towns we serve — so the county applies more often here than the city does.
